2012 Buddha Abides

Here we are just revving up for the 12th Buddha Abides!

It's amazing, but through thick and thin we have persevered to create a show every year thanks to the enthusiasm and support of so many.

Buddha Abides is many things. It is an art show, a vehicle for local artists to be discovered and appreciated, a fund raiser for Santa Barbara Domestic Violence Solutions and Tibetan Children's Village, a way to explore Buddhist philosophy and the Path, a joyous celebration of our interconnectedness and spacious hearts, and a party.

We truly look forward to what will show up at the IN-GATHERING on the 21st of April. It is always, always, always a revelation of the imagination and spirit of Santa Barbarian artists. You can download the guidelines from this site. Be sure to fill out the application form before you arrive at the gallery to show us your work. It makes a big difference.

This year, we are pleased to announce a new category:

PERFORMANCE ART

I, Lark, already have several ideas myself and am in the process of enrolling performers to participate. The financial structure of this idea remains in the works, but I know in my bones, that it is time to expand our expression in this way, whether through music, dance, theater or trapeze...

Here are the basics of the show this year:

at the Santa Barbara Frame Shop and Gallery

Hours: Mon - Sat 10 to 6, (805) 963-2332
20% of our profits go to two charities:
Santa Barbara Domestic Violence Solutions and
Tibetan Children's Village in Dharamsala, India.

All the art is created by local artists. All the art reflects Buddhist themes.

This year we will be showing paintings, drawings, original prints, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, photographs, mixed media, collage and for the first time, performance art!
