For the 7th Year the Buddha Abides
It's that time again, early Spring, jonquils and crocuses, apricot blossoms and jasmine...birds madly chirping, the tangelos' bright orange orbs dangling just outside my kitchen window... Hmmmmm... Oh, and the Buddha Abides contemporary art exhibition is just around the corner!
It's been an unusally hectic time, but we've managed to get the latest version of our logo to the T-shirt guy. They should be ready by next week. We've chosen an image from last years show with which my in-house graphic designer supreme, husband Brian, has started to design the poster, postcard and advert. There have been a few rumblings from artists about works in progress...Ah, yes, we too are in the throws of creation!
It's always a thrill to see what Santa Barbara artists come up with to represent their Buddhist view, whether zen serenity, Tibetan bursting joy, or "If you meet the Buddha on the road, kill him"-style iconoclastic mind-benders. We embrace them all.
If this is the first time you've ever encountered us, please come to our opening party on May 3rd. It's a Thursday, in fact the 1st Thursday of the month when many other galleries open their doors in celebration, too. We'll be having a grand time for a good cause, as all the art is for sale and 20% of our profits go to two charities: Santa Barbara Domestic Violence Solutions and Tibetan Children's Village in Dharamsala, India.
Bring a friend, your good will and your pocketbook.
Don't be square, be there!
